Audi has finally revealed the updated 2013 R8 model lineup with the addition of a new flagship model called R8 V10 Plus. The ultimate update however, is replacing the 6-speed R-Tronic transmission with a double clutch 7-speed S-Tronic transmission with a launch control button. It is a change that must happen to keep up with most of the other supercars out there today. Audi will still offer the manual six-speed transmission for those who still want to do their own work with their own hands. A note to put in mind that the S-tronic transmission is faster than the manual one.

Exterior design changes are minimal and mainly recognized by the redesigned LED headlights and taillights. The LED headlights are standard on all models and have a completely new futuristic design. The new LED tail-lights features a beautiful turn indicators that proceeds towards the direction of the indicator (love it). The front and rear bumpers have also been revised with the . Now, in all engine versions the exhaust system tailpipes are two circular pipes with a glossy trim except the R8 V10 plus which is painted black.

Available only as a coupe, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds and achieves a top speed of 317 km/h. The V10 Plus gets a splitter, mirrors, side blades, rear diffuser in carbon fiber and gets ceramic brakes as standard.

The V10 model has a 5.2 liter v10 engine making 525 hp and 390.91 lb-ft of torque. With the S-Tronic transmission it accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 314 km/h. The V8 model gets the same 4.2 FSI engine but produces 430 hp and 317.15 lb-ft of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds and top speed is 300 km/h.

The facelifted 2013 Audi R8 will be available in Europe at the end of the year. The base price is 39,000 KD (EUR 113,500) for the V8 Coupe, and 43,000 KD (EUR 124,800) for the Spyder. The V10 models are listed at 53,000 (EUR 154,600) for the coupe, 56,700 KD (EUR 165,900) for the Spyder, and 59,500 KD (EUR 173,200) for the R8 V10 plus. These prices are for the European market and not for Kuwait.
